Career history

I began work in 1980 as an apprentice film make-up compositor in the printing industry working on technical and mathematical books. I continued to work in all aspects of printing, particularly pre-press areas where I ended my career as a colour separation artist at one of the national tabloids at the Daily Express building in Manchester.

I gained lots of valuable experience as a proof reader during my 16 years in printing and also took on many commercial artwork design assignments.

After gaining an NVQ in computer programming I worked for IBM as an IT helpdesk analyst but didn’t really take to it so decided to start my own courier business in 2003 because I like driving and travelling.

For seven years I used my creative prowess to decorate venues for a whole host of celebrations including weddings, engagements and birthdays. This was very successful and rewarding especially when I saw the look on the faces of the people concerned when they admired the transformation of the room.
Throughout my career I found myself being asked to look after family and friends homes and would take care of their pets too if they had any while they went away. This could be anything from a couple of days to a month. I always found it interesting and loved the change of scenery particularly as it would give me the opportunity to travel around the country and also over to Ireland.

These house sitting experiences have led to the service I now offer.
